Rick is 67 years of age, has two children, served in the U.S. Army, and worked for the Pinkerton Security and Detective Service. He has an Associates of Art degree from Hagerstown Junior College, and is a member of the VFW, Military Order of the Cootie, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.

His political experience includes serving on the second congressional district Republican Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the West Virginia Libertarian Party, Vice Chairman of the West Virginia Constitution Party (2004-2005). Rick is a past candidate for various public offices such as House of Delegates, State senate, U.S. Senate, governor, and the Preston County Board of Education. His plan for office is to cut unnecessary programs.
