January 22 Meeting – BECKLEY

The postponed January 8, 2011 CPWV meeting, originally planned to be held in Lewisburg, has been RESCHEDULED FOR Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Ryans Family Steak House on US 19 in Beckley. This was due to severe weather and travel advisory issues. Please note the NEW meeting location, see directions below. Note that this decision was made via Executive Committee conference call on Sunday, January 9, 2011. The Lewisburg Shoney’s is not available due to floor remodeling later this month.

Again, our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Ryans Family Steak House
1320 N Eisenhower Dr (US 19, just south of the Beckley Plaza Shopping Center)

Excellent meeting! Thanks to all who attended. The weather was all blue sky, albeit cold this time. It was great to see some “old” friends as well as some new faces.

Our slender Treasurer was particularly acerbic with respect to our Chairman’s healthy appetite. As agreed upon during the carpool home, the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and Council 6 Director are now all in a weight loss competition. You will be seeing less of us. Winner (biggest loser) buys dinner at next meeting.

Some loose ends were tied up. A newsletter to those with deliverable mailing addresses (approx 300) will be forthcoming.

We adopted two new platform positions, “Community Decency” and “Personal Freedom”, to be posted here soon.

We are nearing completion of adoption of our platform on “Education”.

Phil Hudok was nominated as our candidate for the special election for governor this year. Petitioning strategy was discussed. PARADE FLOATS being planned for Strawberry Festival in May and Ripley July 4th (actually on 2nd) parade.

Some more resolutions are in the works. Conference calls are every Thursday at 7:00pm to work on these. Email us with your name and town if you would like to participate and we’ll give you the access numbers.

Working meeting to be held Feb 12 in Lewis County at a member’s home. Call or email us if interested in attending.

Next official meeting to be Saturday, March 12 in Martinsburg (Berkeley County), probably at Hoss’s Steak House pending availability.
